Over the last few years I have become more interested in fine clothing. One of my favourite pastimes was watching movies on the silver screen and in particular starring Cary Grant. Even in his forties and fifties he was the epitome of style and timeless elegance. Ultimately this was because he was tall, athletic and was dressed by the world’s finest fashion designers. His suits were tailored to perfection and made from the finest materials. Like anything this meticulous attention to detail certainly makes a massive difference.
Previously all the suits I have ever bought have been off the shelf and adjusted accordingly. Even though they are from renowned designers and look good they are not tailored. That is why I was delighted to receive an email from a company called Hiras Fashion. Since 1960 this Hong Kong based business has been designing bespoke clothing for discerning male and female clientele. What makes them really special is that travel the world on a regular basis to offer a global personalised service.
Recently I met up with a master fitter called Vinod Hinduja who is originally from Mumbai, India. Prior to our appointment at the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide I had designed a unique suit. On arrival I presented my concept to Vinod and he took several measurements. The next stage involved choosing suitable fabrics from an extensive range. I wanted the aesthetic to be bold and chose an Italian fine wool material in a crimson colour. This would be accented (lapels, pocket flaps) in a contrasting English patterned fabric. In total the process took only about 30 minutes and Vinod was exceptionally professional.
Literally a month later the blazer arrived and definitely exceeded all my expectations. The fabric looks exquisite and the stitching is absolutely first rate. Not only is the fit perfect but the aesthetic is faithful to my original concept. Certainly this is completely different level to an off the shelf shop bought garment. It is fair to say that most clients wouldn’t design their own suits. That is why Hiras Fashion have a great range of styles to choose from. It is also pertinent to mention that the master fitters are very accommodating and will help you create your ideal uniquely shaped suit, jacket, shirts, trousers etc.
Prices range from $699 – $1,500 depending on the quality of fabric you choose. Personally I feel these rates are very competitive considering the overall quality and attention to detail.
