Like most people I have always appreciated a nice motor but never to a fanatical extent. However, my 6-year old son Paolo is absolutely obsessed with cars and knows all the names and models. This has stimulated me to take a keen interest because it is a great bonding tool. Regularly when we are driving somewhere Paolo will shout out “look daddy there’s a car with four exhausts”. Nevertheless, I always tell him this isn’t necessarily an indicator of the cars performance or quality.
A few weeks ago I was speaking with a close friend about cars in general. He sells high end Jaguar’s and Land Rovers for a reputable South Australian dealership. That is why he has an extensive knowledge and an appreciation for fine automobiles. His ideal car would be an Aston Martin because they epitomize good taste and quality. Certainly they are a beautiful piece of engineering and highly aspirational because of the Bond movie franchise.
The new DB11 is an exquisite car, which is the most powerful in the ‘DB’ range. With a 5.2-litre twin turbocharged V12 engine this vehicle will reach 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h). If you want pure performance then this automobile is no match for Ferrari’s, Bugatti’s or Lamborghini’s. However, I don’t really think that has ever been Aston Martin’s primary objective at all. Ultimately I feel people will purchase this wonderful creation because it oozes class and style.
As well as the beautifully sculpted exterior the DB11 has a fabulous interior. Features include hand crafted two tone (ivory and Aurora blue) leather seats, forged carbon panels and two TFT visual displays. There is also the option to upgrade to a state of the art music BeoSound system by Bang & Olufsen. In fact, if you are prepared to pay the money I am sure Aston Martin would customize this vehicle to your exact specifications. Essentially this means you could select the finish and colour combination you desire.
