Over the last few years I have become more and more interested in fine coffee. In particular I am very partial to a really strong black espresso. On a recent trip to Bali I tried what is classed as the world’s most expensive coffee called Kopi Luwak. This variety of coffee has grown notoriety because it is made from the Asian Palm Civet cat droppings. I think people have tried it out of curiosity rather than to enjoy the pleasure of coffee drinking. However I can say I really enjoyed the mellow taste of this unique drink.
A few weeks ago I discovered a company that manufactures really exclusive coffee makers. We are not talking Nespresso here (even though I actually like some of their machines) but something really high end and unique. The company I am talking about is Kees Van Der Westen Espressonistic Works who specialize in the production of eclectic contraptions. All their machines are manufactured in very small numbers for a range of discerning clients.
Coffee fanatic and industrial designer Kees Van Der Westen established the company in the early 1980’s. All of their machines are handcrafted in the Netherlands from the finest materials. The product that really caught my eye is the sensational Mirage. This particular model is fabricated from high grade polished steel and has a glorious ‘Art Deco’ appearance. It can also be customized with bespoke artwork or coloured panels to the clients specific taste. Certainly this is one of the finest coffee makers I have ever seen. Not only will it look fantastic in the kitchen but also is functionally crammed with features including large steam /coffee boilers and a sophisticated safety monitoring system.
If you want to buy this fantastic coffee machine you’ll need very deep pockets as it will set you back around $20,000.
