Over the last few years, my 11-year old son has become obsessed with sportswear and in particular Nike. Like most kids of his age peer pressure is the driver and owning the latest sneakers is the primary motivation. Presently, Nike is the number one shoe manufacturing company in the world and that’s not surprising. Their association with the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan is a massive contributor. Subsequently, they have worked with many other sports stars including Brooklyn Nets sensation Kevin Durant. According to pundits his signature shoe called the KD13 “Hype” is the most technologically advanced sneaker to date. It also inspired exclusive audio brand Master & Dynamic to create a special edition of their MH40 headphones.
I actually own a pair of KD13 “Hype” sneakers and was enticed by the colourful aesthetic. This shoe is dominated by graphic imagery inspired by Kevin Durant’s music influences. The design is exceptionally bold shows illustrations of gold chains and butterflies. Certainly, as an artist, this theme resonated with me and also with the co-founder of Master & Dynamic, Jonathan Levine. In my dealings with Jonathan over the last few years, I have found him to be a purveyor of good taste. That is why it doesn’t surprise me that he has created a beautiful pair of headphones in collaboration with Nike.
A few weeks ago I published a review featuring all Master & Dynamic successful collaborations. The KD13 “Hype” headphones are fantastic and are a must for people (like myself) that own a pair of the sneakers. The MH40 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones have a cool vintage aviator-inspired design that will appeal to a broad demographic. I have extensively tested them and am massively impressed by the warm, rich sound. They are also constructed from aluminium, are very comfortable to wear and have a 100ft/30m connectivity range. Other features include printed coated canvas and replaceable lambskin ear pads.
