Aventi A-13 Ghost

A few years ago, I became aware of a brand called Aventi that was making a big splash on social media. By coincidence, the founder of the company originates from Adelaide, so we arrange a meeting. For those not familiar with Aventi the owner’s name is Hannu Siren. Considering his youthful age and general demeanour he has achieved an enormous amount. During our time together we discussed his time with legendary Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin. Hannu was fascinated to discover I had created two bespoke timepieces with Konstantin Chaykin. This instantly created mutual respect and was the foundation for a good working relationship.

During our meeting at a small boutique coffee shop, Hannu Siren discussed his brand in detail. Aventi had enjoyed an enormous amount of success with both their A-10 and A-11 models. The latter has an incredibly complicated sapphire crystal case, which is inspired by the Lamborghini Aventador. This amazing watch has an “Haute Horlogerie” appearance, reminiscent of creations by luxury brands such as Richard Mille. The main difference is the A-11 originally retailed for $5,000 (recently increased to $5,500) which really resonated with buyers. I was amazed to discover, this watch was reselling on sites like eBay and Chrono24 for double this price.

One of the topics I discussed with Hannu Siren was his future plans for Aventi. To keep the price competitive for the A-10 and A-11 models the company opted to use high-grade tourbillon movements from Hong Kong-based manufacturer PTS Resources. However, Hannu was passionate about taking Aventi to the next level and that meant finding a reputable Swiss supplier. Since we last spoke Hannu has accomplished this with partners such as; Atokolpa, Generale Ressorts and TEC Ebauches. These companies are renowned for working with Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille.

Recently I completed my 10th book, which is a second edition of ‘Luxury Design for Living’. The A-13 Ghost is a fantastic looking watch that was an ideal inclusion for the horology chapter. Dimensionally the watch is slightly smaller than previous models and measures 49mm x 44mm. Buyers have a choice of natural titanium and black TYAMINE® treated cases depending on your preference. Both are complemented by a sensational skeletonised dial with a suspended sapphire crystal skull feature. The timepieces also are equipped with pure 0.3mm sapphire crystal hands, which are bordered with Swiss black lume. With prices ranging from CHF 12,550 – to CHF 13,750, you’d be hard-pressed to find a higher specification watch for this budget.

Beneath the Avant-Garde façade lies a highly sophisticated Swiss mechanical tourbillon movement. The Calibre GT-01S is composed of 64 individual parts and oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. It is shock-resistant to 5000G and has magnetic resistance to over 2000 Gauss. This meticulously decorated mechanism (Perlage finishing and bevelled and polished edges) has been developed by Olivier Mory, who is a high-end watchmaker based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Impressively he worked with AP concept on the $2.5 million Richard Mille RM001. Functionally the A-13 Ghost features hours, minutes and a power reserve of 105 hours / 4 days.
