BESV LX1

Normally when someone expresses the term exclusive it generally means expensive. Most of the time this is true because well designed products involve more effort. They are also usually constructed out of higher-grade materials to ensure the optimum results. However recently I have featured a wonderful watch by DELTAt and a sublime contemporary fireplace called the Ghost by Australian company Ecosmart. What makes both these creations extra special is that they are within the reach of most peoples budgets (relatively speaking). Another great example is an E-bike from a brand aptly named BESV.

Recently (2015) BESV won the prestigious Red Dot award for their innovative LX1 E-Bike. In my opinion, it is definitely a worthy recipient. As I have mentioned before, I am a massive fan of Red Dot and generally agree on their selections. Essentially unlike many other organizations they seem to base their decisions on merit rather than brand positioning.

When I originally saw the LX1 E-Bike and noticed it had actually won the Red Dot award I thought it was going to be frighteningly expensive. To my surprise it is very reasonably priced considering what you are getting. The bike is constructed from lightweight aluminum and weighs only 28.5KG. I love the details like the futuristic frame with integrated lights and computer system. The LX1 is operated by a sophisticated Algorhythm system, which intuitively delivers power when needed. Other features include Tektro, Hydraulic Disk Brakes and Schwalbe, Energizer Plus (700 x 45C) tires.

With a retail price of only $5,299 this bike seems to be very competitively priced considering the list of specifications and overall aesthetic. However it is pertinent to mention that I haven’t personally tested this E-Bike so I don’t know how it actually rides. Hopefully I can rectify this in the near future and update this review.
