I really enjoy looking at real estate websites to see what is available on the market. As I worked in this industry for a few years I am always intrigued by some of the phrases used. For example, many companies will describe the property as architect designed without any specifics. In my opinion this term only has any validity when the architect is actually named. Otherwise it has absolutely no relevance to the buyer at all.
In Australia building your own home is almost second nature and plots of land are readily available to purchase. Most people follow the formulaic route of using a company to produce a generic home. I am not saying there is anything wrong with this decision but I personally would prefer something more unique. That is why programs like Grand Designs really excite me because property owners are really pushing the boundaries.
A few months ago I contacted a Florida based architect called Rene Gonzalez. They design some really exquisite properties for exclusive clients and one of them is the Indian Creek Residence. This home is situated between Miami and North Miami Beach. Essentially the design of this dwelling uses an abundance of glass to maximize views of the Biscayne Bay. It also has several pools which perfectly reflect the light. Personally I love the large open plan areas that seamlessly join both indoor and outdoor areas. The stone and timber elements also give the building a strong organic identity. Overall I feel the architect has created a truly tranquil environment for the fortunate owners.
Certainly the Indian Creek Residence wouldn’t be in the grasp of many buyers and probably would only be reserved for the rich and famous. However, it is a remarkable home that will remain a contemporary masterpiece for many ye
