Over the last few years I have developed a close working relationship with a distributor in Melbourne called watchpartners owned by Jack Retman. The main reason we get on so well is that we seem to like a lot of the same brands and really have a similar philosophy about the industry in general. One of the companies Jack represents is Fortis, who produce high quality range of timepieces at affordable prices. One of their latest releases is the distinctive Flieger Cockpit One and Two.
Recently Fortis’s Sales and Marketing Director Andreas Bentele was generous enough to send me a Flieger Cockpit One for review. Certainly when the watch arrived it exceeded my expectations and it had a really striking appearance. Dimensionally it is much smaller than I normally wear and has a classically proportioned case measuring only 41mm (excluding the crown). Nevertheless, it is really comfortable to wear and I didn’t experience any friction from the lugs. Therefore, I feel this watch will appeal to a broad range of buyers including the unisex market.
The Flieger Cockpit One packs a mean punch on the visual front and is great looking Pilot watch. Certainly for the money I feel you are getting a quality timepiece with a lot of character. Features like the sleek black dial with contrasting beige and white numerals are aesthetically very pleasing to the eye. I also love the large day/date indication and triangular shape hour minute hands. Overall the composition is very refined and the quality is first rate.
Beneath the polished steel exterior lies a Swiss made ETA 2836 automatic movement. This caliber comprises 25-jewels and oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per minute. Functionally the Flieger Cockpit One features hours, minutes, seconds, day and date indications. The watch is also water resistant to a depth of 100 metres and has a power reserve of 40-hours.
