Villa Hemingway 1 Island Point Port Douglas

With the temperatures dropping rapidly in places like Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney many people are flocking to warmer climes. Certainly in the winter months I would consider booking a family holiday and can’t think of a much better location than North Queensland. Last July I was fortunate enough to be staying in a popular tourist destination about an hour from Port Douglas. This region is renowned for its pleasant all year round temperatures and is situated near to World Heritage areas of the Daintree and Great Barrier Reef.

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about a spectacular private residence designed by award winning architect Charles Wright called the ‘Edge’. The appearance might not be to everyone’s tastes but it certainly makes a bold statement on the landscape. If you are after something equally impressive but more conventional then look no further than Villa Hemingway (1 Island Point). Frankly speaking this incredible residence delivers on every front and was the recipient of many awards.

The owners initial brief (back in 1999) was to create a traditional tropical home that would serve the requirements of themselves and six children. This meant a multi functional residence with accommodation presented over six levels and incorporating many different entertaining areas. In fact, this dwelling has 7 bedrooms/bathrooms and offers over 800 square metres of luxurious living (situated on a 1216 square metre plot). As if that wasn’t enough it also has a separate 2-bedroom self contained apartment. Outside the property has 6 spacious balconies, a resort style pool, Cocktail bar, BBQ gazebo and flood lit tennis court.

Normally when people say spectacular, phenomenal, fantastic, magnificent they are over selling a product. However, in this instance these terms are understating the true value of this home. The presentation is of the absolute optimum level and many elements are bespoke. All the materials are exceptionally high quality including the expansive use of hardwood and marble. Literally from every room there are uninterrupted panoramic views of the marina, historical sugar wharf and some of the regions most scenic coastal beaches.

Villa Hemingway is truly a remarkable world class family property designed for the most discerning clients. Presently buyers have a rare chance to purchase this exquisite home at a price of $10.8 million.
