3 Extraordinary Watches Robert “Bobby” Axelrod Might Wear

About a month ago a great friend recommended that I watch a TV programme called Billions. The show is about a tenacious district attorney (Chuck Rhoades) trying to bring a billionaire hedge fund manager (Robert “Bobby” Axelrod) to justice. With several clever plot twists, there have been 4 series so far (48 episodes) and the 5th one in production. Even though some of the storylines are a bit far fetched and farcical at times, it is totally addictive. Just looking at Axelrod’s extravagant lifestyle (where literally everything is attainable) is captivating. Certainly, this purveyor of good taste would be interested in these 3 extraordinary watches.

Louis Moinet Moon

Louis Moinet is synonymous with the production of exquisite watches designed for the connoisseur. One of their latest creations is called the ‘Moon’ and pays homage to the works of Jules Verne. This timepiece is available with either 316L steel or 18 karat-gold cases that have 43.20mm and 45.4mm diameter respectively. What makes this watch so impressive is the textured dial that simulates the surface (including craters) of the moon. Other features include a capsule (located at 3 o’clock) containing lunar meteorite, “Goutte de Rosée”® dew-drop hour/minute hands and raised open work chapter ring.

Dominque Renaud DR01 Twelve First

Dominque Renaud is probably one of the world’s most renowned watchmakers, even if he isn’t a family name. In this highly successful career, he has created highly complicated movements for brands like 4N, Audemars Piguet, Chanel, Harry Winston and Richard Mille. Strategically this oriented him in an ideal position to create an amazing timepiece under his own name. The watch is the question is the phenomenal DR01 Twelve First and it comes with an equally exclusive price tag of $1,000,000.

Greubel Forsey Balancier Contemporain

Greubel Forsey produces some of the worlds most luxurious timepieces for discerning collectors. A great example can be found in their stunning Balancier Contemporain. This incredible watch was released at SIHH 2019 and certainly has delighted critics. Dimensionally this timepiece is smaller than previous models with a solid 18-karat gold case measuring 39.60 mm x 12.21 mm. What makes this watch so special is the multi-layered 3D dial with exposed black lacquered hour-ring, minute-circle and large aperture exposing the balance wheel.
