In two of my books, I have featured spectacular watches from some of the leading lights in the industry. Avant-Garde brands like Armin Strom, Cabestan, Hublot, Rebellion and Richard Mille are a few good examples. They have changed the horological landscape by using experimental lightweight materials. Certainly, their creations are extraordinary but are financially unattainable for most people. Recently, AVENTI launched a very interesting timepiece called the A-10 on crowdfunding site Indiegogo. The aesthetic is inspired by supercars and particular the Lamborghini Aventador. For the Cerakote ceramic coated titanium version ($1,999) there is a range of colours like Rosso Red, Nardo Gray, Riviera Blue, Pearl White, Modena Yellow, Nero Black, and Viola Purple. Many of these variations have never previously been used in the industry. Another cool feature on the titanium model is the two stripes of Super-LumiNova surrounding the bezel, which glow in the dark. There is also are also two sapphire crystal models including the A-11 Royal Blue Sapphire.
AVENTI have been completely transparent about the origins of the A-10. In no way are they trying to pretend the timepiece is Swiss made. Essentially this is a beautifully designed and crafted watch that is powered by a high-grade Chinese engine. The Caliber 3450 is a twin-barrel skeletonised tourbillon movement with Co-axial escapement system. This mechanism has a 72-hour power reserve and oscillates at a frequency of 28,000 vibrations per hour.
