Over the years I have become a lot more fashion conscious and take a pride in what I wear. It is not so much that I am obsessed with labels or trying to impress anyone else. However, since I have lost a massive amount of weight by eliminating gluten from my diet slim fitting clothes feel very comfortable. Ironically in contrast my eight-year old son has rebelled and now only wears sports clothes.
From a young age I was always captivated by the silver screen and in particular Cary Grant. This prompted me to write my degree dissertation on him because he is such a fascinating subject. Ultimately (in my opinion) he is the epitome of style that is rarely found in the modern world. However, companies like Eves & Gray are successfully introducing this level of elegance back into the market with additional modern twists.
Previously I have reviewed three pairs of timeless shoes from Eves & Gray. These include the “Hellcat” Tan/Purple Boot, “Mustang” Brogue and vibrant bright purple suede ”Caius” Slip On. I am a massive fan of the brand and in particular what owner/Creative Director Tim Waring has achieved. For a guy still in his early thirties he is a true inspiration for all budding entrepreneurs. That is why I was absolutely delighted when he agreed to send over a pair of “Wellesley” Tartan Limited Edition Brogue for review purposes.
I have always loved the aesthetic of brogue and the “Wellesley” Tartan is one of the finest examples on the market. The combination of burnished tan leather with high quality fabric tartan panels is an absolute stroke of genius. Certainly for a handcrafted pair of wing tip shoes presented to this standard the £345 price (approximately $462) they seem exceptionally good value for money. It is also pertinent to mention because of quality features like leather lining and a padded insole they are also exceedingly comfortable to wear.
As well as creating high quality shoes for men and women Eves & Gray also produce some exquisite furniture. For more information about the company’s exciting product range follow this link
